What we believe
STATEMENT OF FAITH
SCRIPTURES
We believe in the Bible as the inspired, infallible and reliable Word of God revealed to the prophets and apostles. (2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:20-21)
THE TRIUNE GOD
We believe in one God the Sovereign and creator of all, who eternally exists in three distinct persons the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19, 2 Corinthians 13:14, Luke.3:21-22)
We believe in God the Father who loves the world, sent His Son to save sinners, raised Jesus from the dead, and sent the Holy Spirit together with Him. (John 3:16, 1 John 4:14, 1 Peter 1:21, Philippians 2:9-11, John 14:26)
We believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who became incarnate as Jesus the Messiah. He is fully God and fully man. Conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, He lived a sinless life. He was crucified, raised bodily from the dead, and ascended into heaven, where He reigns as King and serves as our High Priest and Advocate. He will return as the King of kings and Lord of lords to establish His earthly Kingdom. (John 1:1, John 1:14, Matthew 1:22-23, Isaiah 7:14, 2 Corinthians 5:21, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Hebrews 1:3, Hebrews 7:25, Revelation 22:12-13)
We recognize the divine activity of the Holy Spirit in creation (Genesis 1:2), the incarnation (Matthew 1:18), the written revelation (2 Peter 1:20-21), the work of salvation (John 3:5-6, John 16:13-14) and the building of the Church, the Body of Christ. (1 Corinthians 12: 4-13, Ephesians 5:23)
MANKIND
We believe that human beings are created in the image of God. However, due to the disobedience of Adam and Eve, every aspect of their human nature became sinful and corrupt. As a result, all of humanity, except Jesus, inherits a sinful nature and is alienated from God. We are sinners by nature and by choice, subject to physical death and the power of Satan. This leaves us spiritually dead and under God’s condemnation. (Genesis 1:27, Genesis 2:16-17, Genesis 3:6, Ephesians 2:1-3, Romans 3:9-10, Psalm 51:5, John 3:36, Romans 5:12-14)
GENDER, MARRIAGE AND SEXUALITY
We believe that God wonderfully and immutably created each person as distinctly male or female (Genesis 1:26-31; 2:18-25; 5:1, 2) and that a person’s gender corresponds to his or her God-given biological sex.
We believe that marriage was instituted by God to be exclusively the union between one biological man and one biological woman, committed to each other in a lifelong covenant (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:3-11). We believe that marriage is a metaphor reflecting Christ’s love for and faithfulness to His church (Ephesians 5:22-32).
We believe that sexual intimacy should only occur in the context of a biblical marriage between a man and a woman and as such, any and all sexual activity outside of marriage —including adultery, fornication, homosexuality, and pornography— is contrary to God’s design and sinful (1 Cor. 6:15-7:6; Eph. 5:3-7).
We believe that every person is created in the image of God and must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31). While standing firm on the truth of the Word of God, we will always strive as a church to love all men. Any behavior or attitudes that does not reflect these qualities is contrary to Scripture and should be repudiated and corrected.
REDEMPTION
We believe that redemption is accomplished solely through the blood of Jesus Christ, who died in our place as an acceptable sacrifice. His atoning death is sufficient for all who repent and believe, reconciling them to God. Salvation is by grace through faith, a gift from God. It includes justification, sanctification, and glorification. Once saved, our salvation is secure, kept by God’s power, it is impossible to lose. (Ephesians 2:8-9, Titus 3:4-5; Romans 5:6-10, Galatians 3:13, 1 Peter 1:18-19, 1 Peter 2:24, 2 Corinthians 5:21, Romans 5:1, John 17:17-19, 1 John 3:2, John 5:24, John 10:27-30, Romans 8:28-39, 1 Peter 1:3-5, 1 Timothy 4:10)
BAPTISM & HOLY COMMUNION
We believe in the baptism by immersion and the baptism of the Holy Spirit for every born-again believer according to the Bible (Matthew 28:19, Mark 16:15-16, Romans 6:3-5, Acts 1:8, 2:38, 10:44-46, 1 Corinthians 14:18)
We believe that Holy Communion is a symbol, a memorial, a proclamation of the death of our Lord Jesus Christ and it should be solemnly observed by believers until the second coming of Christ (Matthew 26:26-28, 1 Corinthians 10:16, 11: 23-26)
FRUITS AND GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe that the fruit and gifts of the Holy Spirit should be manifested in the life of children of God (Galatians 5:22-25, 1 Corinthians 13:1-7, 1 Corinthians 12:4-10, Ephesians 4:7-11)
THINGS TO COME
We believe in the rapture of the church of Jesus Christ; the dead in Christ will be raised from the dead first and with the living, they will be caught up to meet the Lord in the air (1 Thessalonians 4:13-17, 1 Corinthians 15:51-52)
We believe that there will be a final judgment where the dead and the living will be judged at the Great White Throne judgment (Daniel 7:9-10, Revelations 14:9-11, Revelations 20:11-15)
We believe that the righteous will dwell in the presence of the Lord God in the New Jerusalem forever (Matthew 13:43, John 17:24, Revelations 21:2, Hebrews 12:22-24)
